2024 Teach & Treks

The  Teach & Trek is one of our most popular offerings.  Combining the coaching of strokes and rescues with a journey is the perfect way to solidify the learning process.  This is not a static learning venue, we are on the move experiencing the beauty of our surroundings environment as we learn stroke efficiencies and safety procedures.  ACA L2,L3 Skills Assessment Certification available.

Annapolis, Md
Level 2  2024 Dates: Wednesdays

 

Teach & Trek Level 2

Description: This trek will focus on coaching the necessary flat water strokes and rescues to safely enjoy a 3-5 mile journey on relative sheltered conditions.  We will launch out of Truxton Park which is on the Spa Creek. Our journey will take along the creek past “Ego Alley”, the Navel Academy and briefly out into the Chesapeake Bay. Lots to see and the perfect paddling environment for learning our skills and rescuers.

Mayo Beach/Triton Beach, Maryland

Level 3  2024 Dates: Thursdays

Teach & Trek Level 3

Description: With this journey we add to our basic strokes the advanced turning strokes. The Bow Rudder, Side Slip, Low Brace Turn and Double Shift Stern Rudder. All these strokes work very well in the wind. As we move from sheltered water to a more open environment we should experience some wind and waves. In conditions such as these we will need to know and be comfortable with a few more rescues. These will be introduced and demonstrated during our journey. Those who are interested can also receive a introduction to the “roll”
