Gil Hidalgo grew up surrounded by water. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and raised in south Spain and Charleston, South Carolina, it was inevitable that water would be a big part of his life. From Scuba diving to surfing, Gil was always on the water in his free time. He was known to skip college to go fishing regularly. It wasn’t until early 2006 when he started kayak fishing that he traded his surfboard, snorkel and motorcycles and eventually, fishing poles to dedicate all his free time to paddle sports. Since then, paddle sports has become a healthy obsession. The rougher the water the more he enjoys it.
